Like most youth this time of year, our kids are writing out their Christmas wish lists and anxiously anticipating Christmas morning. There are many gifts on their lists that you would expect to see from kids their ages like video games, pajama pants, fuzzy socks, favorite CDs, and craft kits. But some of the other items are just as unique as our kids.
Barry* wants an assorted cheese gift pack from Hickory Farms. The boy loves cheese! Lea* wants to decorate her bedroom with "anything hearts and flowers." And Sam,* well he kept it simple. He wants Sensodyne toothpaste for his sensitive pearly whites.
Our ability to give our kids the hope and joy they deserve at Christmas is made possible by you. Because of your generosity, Barry, Lea, and Sam will smile with delight on December 25th.
The weeks ahead are filled with many Cunningham traditions. Activities like shopping for loved ones and baking cookies; celebrations like the Christmas story, a Walk through Bethlehem, and a candlelit service; and experiences like a visit with Santa, trimming the tree, singing carols, and opening presents selected just for them are all ways we are able to make Christmas special for our kids.
Many individuals, families and organizations choose to give gifts to our youth during the holiday season. We are grateful for the support of our community as we have 463 kids to shop for this year!
Here are some ways you can bring hope and joy to our youth at Christmas:
Purchase Gifts from our Christmas Wish List
Our wish list is full of gift ideas that our kids typically long for at Christmas time. You can find our general Christmas wish list here.
Help Support the "Kid's Shop for Loved Ones"
Our youth learn about the spirit of giving and generosity through Kid's Shop. They write out wish list items for their loved ones and with the help of Cunningham staff, they shop for those special gifts! You can give gently used or new items to the Kids Shop to make sure our youth have plenty to choose from. Favorite items include candles, bath/lotion sets, home decor and jewelry for women and ties, wallets, scarfs, and hats for men. You can drop off items at Cunningham's Spiritual Life Center (SLC).
Use Amazon Smile when you shop Amazon.com
Did you know that Cunningham Children's Home has a unique Amazon Smile link that allows Cunningham to receive 0.5% of the price of all eligible smile.amazon.com purchases? Only purchases made at smile.amazon.com are eligible for donations. If you haven't designated Cunningham Children's Home on Amazon Smile, you can do so today here. And for your convenience, you can shop from our Amazon Wish List.
Please deliver all gifts unwrapped to the Spiritual Life Center at Cunningham at 1301 N. Cunningham Avenue in Urbana by Friday, December 1, 2017. We have wonderful volunteers that will wrap them with love!
