Cunningham President/CEO Sam Banks Accepts New Position

Press Release: A Legacy of Excellence

After 25 years at Cunningham, including 20 as President and CEO, Samuel P. Banks has resigned to accept a position at the Glenwood School for Boys and Girls in Glenwood, Illinois. The move will allow him to continue his calling to work with at-risk youth while bringing him home to the Chicago area, where he still has family.

Sam’s visionary leadership has helped to improve and grow the services Cunningham provides to children, youth and families, and his influence will be missed. A respected leader in the community of Champaign-Urbana and beyond, Sam’s contributions will be celebrated during farewell receptions to take place during the last week of February.

The Cunningham Board of Directors expects to appoint an interim director prior to Sam’s last day, February 29.Cunningham is in an excellent position for this transition, benefiting from a highly-qualified, experienced leadership team including Vice President of Program Services Pat Ege, Vice President of Finance Dan Holmer, and Vice President for Development Cloydia Hill Larimore. Collectively, these three individuals have over 60 years of experience at Cunningham.

As the process is developed to select Sam’s successor, the Board of Directors is confident that Cunningham leadership will continue moving the organization forward, providing quality care to children, youth and families.
