See You Around, Sam!

Over 400 guests attended an Open House and Farewell Reception held for Sam Banks on February 29. The afternoon was filled with celebration, laughter, and a few tears as United Methodist Women, community members, and current and past Board members gathered to thank Sam for his 25 years of service.

Our photo gallery includes details of the day's highlights.

As Sam addressed the group, he shared that it would be hard to leave if his time at Cunningham had been about buildings, growth, or other achievements. But his time at Cunningham has been about working in mission and minisrty, and answering God's call to serve those in need.

Sam commended Cunningham's talented staff and dedicated Board of Directors, and shared his strong belief that the agency will continue to uphold its commitment to putting kids' needs first.

In a separate message he wrote following the Open House, Sam offered a blessing to those who will carry on the Cunningham mission and ministry:

May the Good Lord always be with you as you carry out the mission and work of Cunningham Children’s Home each day.  My heart will always be with you and Cunningham will always be my home.  See you around.

Sam Banks

A book of letters of appreciation was presented to Sam during the event. Those interested in sending Sam a letter may still contact Cunningham and we will forward your letter to him.

We are also grateful to all those who made a gift in Sam's honor to support building projects on our main campus. If you would like to make an honor gift today, please see our giving pages or donate now by credit card.
