2009 marked the fourth year that Cunningham staff have formed a team to raise funds and awareness through the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Cancer has touched many lives and the Cunningham family has not been immune.
Although the team consisted of about twenty members the majority of the Cunningham family joined in to help in the fight against cancer.
The grand total raised was $4,732.66!
Several people, including Cunningham Board Members bid on items in a special Silent Auction held during the annual Circle of Courage award presentation.
A real highlight of the Relay for Life team's efforts was the "Kiss 'Da Pig" contest. Employees brought in their coins and bills to vote for a Leadership Team member to kiss a pig.
A great big thank you to Vice President Dan Holmer and CEO, Marlin Livingston for being such good sports when the voting resulted in a tie. The poor piglet had to put up with two kisses!
Another big thanks to Vice Presidents Cloydia Hill Larimore and Pat Ege for their willingness to participate. I’m not sure, but I do wonder if maybe these ladies may have been responsible for all the bills in the gentlemen’s piggy banks.
Combined with a rainy-day car-wash, sale of t-shirts, and special opportunities for Cunningham kids to get involved through their schools, the whole fundraising effort was a great chance for the Cunningham family to get involved in the spirit of generosity and concern for those whose lives have been affected by cancer.
The Cunningham family really knows how to rally together. Thanks to all who played a part in this year’s successful Relay for Life!
