- A residential group home for eight
teenage girls, ages 16 to 18 years old.
- The girls group home was founded in 1969 as a community-based
program to help teenage girls with the next step toward
healthy independence.
- In 2007, the program relocated to our main campus in Urbana to provide closer proximity to Residential Treatment Center resources while maintaining the stand-alone, independent character of the original Girls Group Home.
- Extensive renovations improved the safety features of the original building, Sarah English Cottage, which was built in 1957.
- Named in honor of Mrs. Sarah English, Superintendent of Cunningham from 1949-1960, this was the second of three cottages built to provide a home for children and their "house parents."
