Cunningham Children’s Home (CCH) was founded in 1895, as an orphanage to serve children in the Urbana, Illinois area. Today, services provided by CCH include the following programs: Residential and Group Home Care for children and youth, Transitional Living, Pregnant and Parenting Teen, and Independent Living Programs for teens and young adults, Treatment Foster Care, and Circle Academy Day Treatment School and Winfred Gerber Residential School.
Reporting to and under the direction of the Board of Directors, the President & CEO is the Administrative Head of the CCH. As such, the President & CEO has charge of the direction and supervision of its overall management and operation. The President & CEO acts as liaison between the Boards of Directors of the Agency, the Foundation, and the staff. This includes responsibility for overall childcare, budget formulation and financial management. The President & CEO also works closely with the Board President to communicate CCH programs to the Board.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational, visionary leader with a passion for the mission of the Cunningham Children’s Home. He or she will be a motivator who exhibits confidence and enthusiasm and the ability to empower people. This person will have extensive experience managing a staff of professionals.
He or she will be committed to the core values of CCH which are integrity, respect for all people, teamwork, compassion, excellence, spirituality and accountability. It is necessary that this person be driven by the need to achieve the mission of the CCH. Experience in the field of Child Welfare is necessary. Knowledge of the child welfare laws and procedures and working effectively with State agencies in Illinois is preferred. Prior experience as a chief executive officer or executive director is preferred.
The successful candidate will have experience, knowledge and expertise in financial management. He/She will have experience in developing, implementing and bringing to completion fundraising initiatives and opportunities
The successful candidate will be a good public speaker and be comfortable appearing in public to tell the CCH story to current and potential supporters and donors. In addition, he or she will be comfortable dealing with the media.
