Join us for the 12th Annual Festival of Quilts
Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, 2016
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cunningham Children’s Home’s Festival of Quilts joins the Boneyard Arts Festival this spring as one of more than 90 galleries showcasing the arts in Central Illinois. This year Cunningham is excited to present a collection of show quilts that creatively blur the lines between conventional quilt making and fine art. The 12th annual Festival of Quilts will also include a silent auction and quilt boutique as well as a gift shop, bake sale and the Patchwork Café.
The Boneyard is a four-day event which brings together area businesses, organizations, and artists while promoting the cultural vibrancy of our community. As the Festival of Quilts has grown and the quilts submitted for viewing have evolved it became obvious to all who help with the event that many of our local artists are sharing their artwork through quilts.
We invite you to join us on Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to enjoy the colorful and diverse exhibit as well as the silent auction.
On Saturday at 10:30 and 2:30, Erick Wolfmeyer, this year’s guest speaker, will share a collection of his fine art quilts, and the stories which brought him to quilting as a creative outlet. Erick’s work has been featured in numerous books and periodicals and has been exhibited through the US and China. With each new piece, Erick celebrates quilt-making as the perfect metaphor for an imperfect, but well-lived life.
