The Festival includes a collection of show quilts that creatively blur the lines between conventional quilt making and fine art. Quilts of all sizes are available to purchase through a silent auction and quilt boutique. Participants may also enjoy home-baked goods from the bake sale, lunch at the café, and handcrafted items from the gift shop. Admission to the festival is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person and all proceeds will benefit children and youth served by Cunningham.
On Saturday Erick Wolfmeyer, this year's guest speaker, will share a collection of his fine art quilts, and the stories which brought him to quilting as a creative outlet. Erick's work has been featured in numerous books and periodicals and has been exhibited throughout the US and China. With each new piece, Erick celebrates quilt-making as the perfect metaphor for an imperfect, but well-lived life. Hear his stories at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on April 9.
"The Festival of Quilts is an important fund raising event for Cunningham and we are grateful to the quilting community for its support in providing quilts for the show and auction," said Sharla Jolly, Director of Advancement. "We certainly could not do this event without their generosity."
