Chaplain's Message: Honk if you Care About Kids

Geese fly in "V" formation heading south for the winter.

Scientists have discovered why geese fly this way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following, making their flight a little easier. By flying in a "V" formation the flock's flying range is 71% greater than if each bird flew on its own!

When the lead goose gets tired it rotates to the back and another goose flies in the point. The honking we hear as the geese are flying overhead, comes from the birds in the back. Their honking is to encourage those up in front.

Geese are faithful to each other. When a goose gets sick, two geese fall out of formation and go down to help protect the injured goose. They stay until the goose either recovers or is dead, and then they launch out on their own or with another formation to catch up with their group.

As we journey in the same direction, believing God can heal and transform young lives, let us remember that assisting, encouraging, and uplifting others makes a big difference in what we can accomplish.
