"I thought it was the end of the world."

"I thought it was the end of the world."

That's how Don Pittman felt laying in the tall grass with his brother on the day they came to Cunningham Children's Home, more than 80 years ago. Don said they were hugging each other and crying. He felt scared and lonely.

Don recently shared this memory in an inspiring presentation he and his wife, Norma, gave about Cunningham Children's Home at their church, Loda United Methodist.

Though the needs of our youth have changed and our services have evolved, Don's description still rings very true. Today, youth arrive at Cunningham feeling as though it's the end of the world. But just like Don, they find a place where they are loved and hope is restored.

Together we are providing a safe place for youth to heal, learn, and grow. Your gifts of time, talent, and treasure make a difference to a child who is feeling scared and lonely. You are giving them loving care along with opportunities to learn, gain new skills, and explore their faith.

We're grateful to the Pittmans for the opportunity to share their poignant message with you. Don's story referenced above begins at 4:30 in the recording.

We send our very best wishes to you for 2016. May the New Year bring you a new season of hope...
