Manners with a Side of Appreciation

Manners with a Side of Appreciation

During last night's dinner at Arby's restaurant, an annual celebration for our kids, "Please" and "Thank You" were tossed around like confetti at midnight on New Year's Eve. Our boys and girls clearly listened and learned from the recent Special Therapies session on manners.
Each year the staff from Arby's in Urbana, Cunningham Children's Home and FMS, Inc. come together to serve our youth in residential care a special dinner. The restaurant treats more than 60 kids and staff to a full meal including appetizers, salads or sandwiches, side dishes, and milk shakes. Plus, they have a huge sheet cake made just for the occasion.

While the meal is undoubtedly delicious, our kids look forward to the time off campus for another important reason. The week between Christmas and New Year's Day can be difficult for our youth because of the added emotions surrounding expectations of the holidays and family time. In addition, they are out of school and many of our kids need a simple distraction which Arby's graciously provides along with a big helping of love.
As each unit prepared to return to Cunningham, some with "To Go" bags in hand, kids lined up at the "Ring for Exceptional Service" bell to loudly thank the entire Arby's team for their generous hospitality!
