Make a difference.
Volunteers play an important role at Cunningham Children’s Home. For the youth, and families who need our therapeutic care, the difference our volunteers make is beyond measure. Our volunteers help support our vision - to see every child thrive - and are instruments of hope. We offer meaningful opportunities for individuals, groups, and organizations with varied interests and schedules.

Main Areas and Opportunities:
Special Events:
We have special fundraising events throughout the year. Volunteers help make our signature fundraising events like the Festival of Quilts and the Kendall Gill Golf Benefit successful. Volunteers can also join us for our other special celebrations and various Christmas related activities. For special events, volunteers– individuals and groups–are usually needed on weekends or during business hours. Our events wouldn’t be possible without help from the community!
Group Projects:
For community groups and businesses available during business hours, one-time or ongoing opportunities are available. Group projects include helping with event set up for our special events, campus clean up, and wrapping presents at Christmas time.

Share Your Special Skills:
Individuals with special skills or unique abilities are encouraged to call to discuss additional volunteer opportunities with Cunningham Children’s Home. Special skilled and talented volunteers have hosted dance classes, car shows, music concerts, sports clinics, reading to students, and a fishing clinic with a renowned fisherman. The possibilities are endless!
Where to start: Volunteer Orientation
Volunteer Orientation is an opportunity to learn more about Cunningham and the work we do with youth, families, and individuals. Orientation is required for anyone who is interested in working directly with youth and does count towards cumulative volunteer hours. The orientation is held the fourth Wednesday of the month, depending on sign up of at least 5 or more volunteers. Orientation dates are subject to change based on sign up, holiday dates, and current needs of the organization.
If you have questions about volunteering or are interested in scheduling a group project, please contact Colleen Combes at 217.337.9058 or by email.
****Covid-19 policy: All volunteers regardless of vaccination status will be required to wear masks while on campus during the volunteer shift.
