Jennifer Terry, MSW – Therapist

Jennifer understands that when we experience trauma it can affect every part of our daily life. It can create coping mechanisms that help us work past the trauma. It is important to make sure to give ourselves the care we need to encourage a better quality of life not only for ourselves but also for those we love and care for daily. At times, we can be influenced by those experiences directly or indirectly.  At HopeSprings, Jennifer likes to help children, adolescence, young adults, and their families develop their strengths by working through trauma or other obstacles they may have or are currently experiencing.

Since 1997, Jennifer has gained experience working with trauma, developmental disabilities, and dementia and Alzheimer’s. She uses therapeutic interventions including strengths-based, trauma-informed care, the Nurtured Heart Approach, and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) with younger children and adolescents. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). Through these lenses she helps children and families understand and resolve problems, modify behavior, and make positive changes in their lives.

Jennifer was a Leadership Scholar (HEALS) at the University of Illinois, School of Social Work. She has also completed the 40-Hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training for the state of Illinois and is currently working toward her Licensure in Social Work.

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois
