On a recent Sunday at Mansfield United Methodist Church, a woman approached me in between worship services and handed me an old photograph. It was a simple picture of a beautiful young woman in early 1900’s dress, standing alone in an open field with just trees and a fence behind her.
Two very special awards were presented by Cunningham Children’s Home on Wednesday as more than 100 current and past board and committee members and guests attended the annual Board Appreciation Day luncheon at the Spiritual Life Center. Mike and Scott Balogh, representing the Illini Collector Car Club (ICCC), were honored with the Friend of Children Award and Don Pittman was given the Outstanding Alumni Award.
One December afternoon, Pamela Lowe arrived at Cunningham's Spiritual Life Center to volunteer and she didn't come empty-handed. She brought with her gifts she had purchased for our Kids' Shop - where our youth experience the joy of giving back during Christmas by choosing small, inexpensive items (all donated by friends of Cunningham) for the special people in their lives.
In September 2016, we were transported back in time by a visit from two Cunningham alumni who had driven all the way from Texas to see their childhood home.
