Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights

Gifts to Cunningham help bridge the gap between reimbursements from referring agencies and the actual costs of caring for our kids. Cunningham youth benefit from the generosity of our many friends and supporters. You can lend your support to Cunningham kids today when you:

1) Pray for our Kids

The Prayer-a-Day calendar offers a daily prayer for our youth, their families, and those who love and support them. Through the power of prayer, we can each help our kids find hope.

2) Join the Guardian Parent Giving Program

Guardian Parents help us look after the needs of our kids by providing recurring financial support on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. When you commit to give, you are also making it possible for youth to participate in field trips, summer camps, recreational activities, special therapies, and many other enriching experiences

3) Make a donation

While Cunningham receives money from state and federal sources, there remains a $37 a day gap per child between the actual costs of caring for a child and the reimbursements we receive. Your gift will help us bridge that gap to ensure our youth have the resources they need to heal, learn, and grow. You can also donate through a workplace giving program such as the Combined Charities Campaign or United Way. Learn about Cunningham Funds.

4) Make an in-kind donation

These donations help us to meet the daily needs of our kids for clothing, personal hygiene items, school supplies, and other basic items. We also collect gifts for our kids and their families at Christmas, for birthdays, and other special occasions. For more information, contact Brooke Buzard by phone at 217.337.9073 or by email.

5) Purchase gift cards or items from our wish lists

Whether used at Christmas, on birthdays, or throughout the year as a special treat, purchasing gift cards or items from our WISH LISTS allow us to meet the needs of our kids without spending additional funds.

6) Participate in an event

The Annual Festival of Quilts occurs in the spring/summer. United Methodist Women and friends can help by donating quilts, attending the Festival, making goodies for the bake sale, volunteering, selling tickets, and more. The Annual Kendall Gill Golf Outing each July, Kendall and his family return to Cunningham to host this popular event that supports our Boy's Group Home. To learn more about our events, please contact Colleen Combes at 217.337.9058 or by email.

7) Make a gift to Honor or Memorialize a loved one

Our many friends and supporters often choose to memorialize or honor a special person by making a gift in their name to Cunningham Children’s Home. For more information on how to honor or memorialize someone special, please contact Tim Manard at tmanard@cunninghamhome.org or by phone at 217.337.9071 or make your gift online.

8) Make a quilt for our kids

Since 1895, United Methodist Women and quilters from across Illinois have made quilts for our kids. Thanks to them, thousands of young live have been wrapped in warmth, safety, and love. If you would like to make a quilt for a Cunningham kid, please size it to fit a twin-sized bed -- approximately 66"x96". If you would like to donate a quilt for show or auction at the Festival of Quilts, visit our Participate in the Festival page.
